With the news of the high number of violent incidents associated with the “Black Friday” sales, many retailers will possibly be looking to overhaul their security plans for some of the busiest shopping days of the year. The extreme bargains offered by retailers have caused some shoppers to act in very inappropriate manners. It was a pleasure meeting everyone at this year’s annual Energy Security Council conference. We hope that everyone found the exhibits and guest speakers as enjoyable as we did. With the recent officer involved shootings across the Nation, it serves as a reminder that police officers have a very dangerous job. This includes both on duty and off duty work. Off Duty Services wants all police officers to go home to their family and friends after every shift. Please be careful out there and pray for the officers and families involved in these most recent incidents.

With the active shooter incident at the University of Texas, it reinforces the need for preparedness and training in advance of these tragic events. Due to the increase in such occurrences, many facilities have introduced procedures for dealing with these incidents. One aspect being considered by facility management teams is to have armed security on-site for an immediate response to the threat. Off duty police officers are the perfect solution.
